Program Description

Explore offers bursary opportunities to graduating secondary school students and college and university students who want to experience a second-language immersion course in English or French. The five-week spring or summer courses enable program participants to improve their second language fluency at an accredited educational institution while discovering a region of Québec or the rest of Canada.

Funded by the Department of Canadian Heritage as part of the Official Languages Support Programs, Explore is offered throughout Canada under the aegis of provincial and territorial ministries of education and coordinated nationally by the Council of Ministers of Education, Canada (CMEC) This link lands on a Web site that may not be subject to the government standard on accessibility.. In Québec, the Ministère de l'Éducation et de l'Enseignement supérieur administers the Explore Program.

The random draw for bursaries is conducted by the CMEC. The date of the initial draw will be posted on the official Explore website This link lands on a Web site that may not be subject to the government standard on accessibility. and Facebook pageThis link lands on a Web site that may not be subject to the government standard on accessibility.. Additional weekly draws are held by participating  educational institutions until such time as all bursaries declined by recipients have been reassigned to other candidates.

More than 3 000 bursaries are awarded to Québec students each year.

Do you have special needs?

Special needs are not personal choices, but medical or functional requirements.

If you have special needs, you need to inform your host institution as soon as you receive the email confirming that a bursary has been awarded to you.

You will also need to provide documentation detailing your needs, such as a doctor’s certificate, a description of the constraints related to your condition and your individualized education plan related to your learning difficulties.

The host institution must be able to plan your stay in conjunction with you, in the best possible way.

If the institution to which you are assigned is unable to provide appropriate services, your file could be transferred to a different one.
