Deemed full-time student

You are deemed a full-time student even if you are studying part-time, as long as you are enrolled in at least 20 course hours per month and you are in one of the following situations:

  • You are at least 20 weeks pregnant.
  • You are a single parent and live with your child who is under age 12 as of September 30th, 2016.
  • You live with a child (yours or your spouses) who is under age 6 as of September 30th, 2016.
  • You live with a child (yours or your spouses) who is under age 21 as of September 30th, 2016 and is a student with a major functional disability or mental disorder.
  • You have a major functional disability.
  • You are unable to pursue full-time studies for more than one month due to a serious episodic disorder that results from permanent major mental or physical health problems as confirmed by a medical certificate.
  • You are a participant in the Réussir program at the Ministère de l’Emploi et de la Solidarité sociale.

If you and your spouse are students, only one of you can be deemed to be a full-time student during the award year in question.

*Please use the paper Declaration of Change - Student (1012) PDF form to notify us that you are the parent of a child suffering from a major functional disability or mental illness, and include one of the following documents:

  • The Medical Certificate – Major Functional Disabilities and Other Recognized Disabilities form (if your child suffers from a major functional disability)
  • A doctor’s certificate describing your child’s illness if the child is mentally ill
